New Age is a spiritual movement of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries that focuses on decentralized, individual spiritual exploration. It thus moves away from traditional religious frameworks, often embraces belief in Ascended Masters and later also extraterrestrials, and emphasizes the importance of healing and self-healing. The individual spiritual path is ultimately supposed to lead to the advent of the Age of Aquarius, an age believed to bring higher consciousness. At the same time, New Age promotes certain highly controversial concepts, such as the “point,” and potentially dangerous concepts, such as the I AM Decree.
Insincere ideas about spiritual growth are deeply embedded in the New Age movement. Instead of only dispelling religious delusions, its proponents often attempt to lure spiritual seekers into a world of worshipping evil entities. If New Age represents a call for humanity’s spiritual awakening, we also need a spiritual call to awaken from the delusions of New Age.
