In his book The Kabala of Numbers (1909), Sepharial published a special arrangement of numbers in a 3×3 matrix:
Based on my research, this is not necessarily Sepharial’s own invention, but it clearly belongs to the Chaldean tradition. However, since this grid was first published by Sepharial, I refer to it as “Sepharial’s Grid.”
This grid is derived from the Chaldean triangular groups:
1, 5, 7 3, 6, 9 2, 4, 8
These three groups originate in ancient Chaldean numerology and were published in modern times in 1908 by the Pythagorean numerologist Luo Clement in The Ancient Science of Numbers. It appears that someone may have combined this knowledge with the concept of the most masculine numbers -1 (the Sun), 3 (Jupiter), and 9 (Mars). As a result, the positions within the triangles 3–6–9 and 1–5–7 had to be adjusted, specifically by exchanging the positions of the numbers 1 and 6.
This grid may be of very ancient origin (a possibility I am currently investigating). It is also possible that Sepharial encountered it through Freemasonry, since the numerical arrangement of this grid can be interpreted through the Masonic symbol of the compass and the square. In the top row, the lowest number is placed in the center, with two higher numbers on the sides. In the second and third rows, the relationship is reversed. This produces the following pattern:
By connecting the first and second rows, we can draw the shapes of the letters V and Λ (Lambda). The letter V is formed by the numbers 3, 7, and 9, while the letter Λ is formed by 6, 1, and 5. Together, these shapes correspond to the Masonic image of the compass and the square. The same can be done with the first and third rows: here, the letter V is formed by the numbers 3, 8, and 9, and Λ by the numbers 2, 1, and 4.
Within this grid, Sepharial analyzed planetary conjunctions. He placed the digits of a person’s birth date (day, month, and the last two digits of the year) into the matrix. If two adjacent cells in the matrix were activated by the digits of the birth date, the relationship was interpreted as a conjunction between two planets. For example, the relationship between 4 and 8 was interpreted as a conjunction between the Sun and Saturn, while the relationship between 1 and 3 was interpreted as a conjunction between the Sun and Jupiter.
By the 21st century at the latest, Sepharial’s “Masonic” grid had become widespread in modern neo-Vedic numerology. Since older Indian sources from the 20th century do not mention this grid, we can conclude that its use in Indian numerology began only relatively recently, under the influence of Sepharial. It appears that Indian practitioners combined Sepharial’s 3×3 matrix with the concept of arrows, introduced into Pythagorean numerology in 1940 by Hettie Templeton. Following the example of Jyotish, the formations of these arrows were called yogas. Over time, some additional configurations were also classified as yogas, even though they do not appear in this matrix as straight arrows.
On June 21, 2025 (U.S. time), and June 22 or 1 Tir 1404 in the Iranian calendar, the United States launched an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities. The U.S. claims Iran’s nuclear program has been destroyed, yet insists it is not at war with Iran. This logic is somewhat puzzling, especially considering that even U.S. intelligence previously asserted Iran did not possess nuclear weapons. The country was attacked despite having already endured an assault from the colonial Zionist regime in Israel, which is currently starving the population in the massive concentration camp that is Gaza and committing widespread massacres of civilians.
What does today’s escalation tell us when examined through the date interpretation technique (Chaldean Numerology) I also used in the numerological analysis of Israel’s attack on Iran?
On Iran’s side, the picture is once again ambiguous. It’s difficult to determine the full consequences today’s events will have on the country. The numbers influencing Iran’s chart on this day, based on Sepharial’s interpretations, are:
>> XI (11):Success in some bold enterprises; courage; decision; energy. >> XII (12):Reversal of position; culpability; chastisement; loss of honour; danger of violent death; either enforced or voluntary; dangers from women; catastrophe. >> XIII (13):Ambitions and hopes deceived; destruction; undoing, new beginnings; death; fatality.
The number 11 appears in a stronger than usual position, indicating not just fear, but also aggression, courage, and a strong will to fight. The number 12 points to sacrifice, while the Uranian-solar 13, in today’s context, represents Iran’s nuclear capabilities and the aerial assault against them.
For the United States, the picture is simpler: it’s a strong combination of numbers 13 and 15:
>> XIII (13):Ambitions and hopes deceived; destruction; undoing, new beginnings; death; fatality. >> XV (15):Fate; the inevitable; dangers to the offsprings and struggles in the marriage state; luxury.
When 15 appears in this kind of combination, it definitely deserves the title “The Devil” (tarot card XV). In personal charts, such a combination doesn’t necessarily imply negative energies—it can also symbolize spiritual development through trials or mistakes. But in mundane numerology, the meaning is darker. Fifteen represents manipulation and speculation, and can also suggest black magic or the influence of dark spiritual forces, harmful individuals, destructive thoughts, crime, suffering etc. In today’s context, 13 again represents air strikes and nuclear facilities.
An event begun on a particular day can trigger a chain reaction. So, what might be the numerological echo of today’s developments? I must emphasize that I’m using a specific technique for interpreting dates. There are other approaches, including astrological ones. Still, I will pursue a narrow interpretation here, while asking you to remain open to the possibility that astrological influences and human awareness could lead to a different outcome.
The Americans are hoping—perhaps naively—that their actions today won’t be interpreted as a declaration of war, and that they won’t be seen as directly involved in the Israeli-Iranian conflict. They are expecting a de-escalation. But Iran, by closing the Strait of Hormuz or the Red Sea, could trigger global shockwaves—and might even strike U.S. military targets.
At first glance, the numbers seem to favor the United States. From a numerological standpoint, the figures influencing the U.S. chart appear more favorable than those affecting Iran. This would suggest it may be wiser for Iran to refrain from a major retaliatory response and focus instead on Israel.
Should Iran respond more forcefully, this will deeply entangle the U.S. in the Middle Eastern conflict. Iran’s aid to the Palestinians is reflected in the number 12, indicating the country has already sacrificed part of its wealth and well-being to help others. In such contexts, 12 can have a more positive meaning—especially if the assistance was offered sincerely. If this proves true, then Iran might not be significantly weakened and the conflict could drag on. Once again, we encounter the same ambiguity that was present in the numerological analysis of the outbreak of theIsraeli–Iranian war.
Two further points must be noted about Iran. The numbers 3, 5, and 8—associated with financial matters—emerge, suggesting that Iran could begin receiving substantial aid if the conflict is prolonged. Moreover, Iran’s 12 is strengthened by other numbers that may hint at the sources of such support. In this case, 12 seems to be linked with China (perhaps even Pakistan), and 8 likely points to Russia. Numbers 5 and 6 could even indicate certain forces in the West. There have already been accusations within the U.S. that Trump exceeded his presidential powers by ordering the military action. Should the conflict persist, these voices may grow louder.
We can see that the United States is gambling with its luck. If the situation calms quickly, they may declare victory. If the conflict escalates but no other powers become involved, Israel and the U.S. may succeed in bringing Iran to its knees. But if other nations do step in, then new numerological and astrological factors will come into play. In such a case, the U.S. might emerge from this crisis no longer as the world’s dominant power—neither formally nor de facto. Gambling with 13 and 15 is playing the Devil’s game. The energies of these numbers may boomerang right back at the United States.
In the events of June 12 and June 21–22, we repeatedly see the number 13 (in tarot 13 or XIII is known as the card of “Death”). It is not only the number of nuclear plants, air strikes, and death. It may also indicate the use of missiles containing radioactive material—or even actual nuclear warheads. We are living in a year of wars and at the end of a multi-year numerological cycle of conflicts. This broader cycle ends with this year, making 2025 particularly dangerous.
Now is the time for prayer, spiritual growth, good deeds, and returning to one’s essence. This mostly invisible “front” is vital if we want the world to be flooded with a wave of love and reconciliation.
“The Royal Star of Aquarius,” or “The Royal star of the Waterman”, also known as Markab, should more accurately be called the “Royal Star of Pegasus,” as there is no bright star located at 20 degrees of Aquarius. If we travel from 20 degrees of Aquarius on the ecliptic along the celestial meridian, which is perpendicular to the celestial equator, we reach the vicinity of the bright star Markab to the north and the star Fomalhaut to the south, a very luminous star in the constellation Piscis Austrinus (the Southern Fish).
Fomalhaut is traditionally associated with communication and attracting attention. Its nature is gentler, often tied to business affairs, but it can also be connected with a less favorable disposition. However, it is not associated with danger or war, which are traditional themes in Chaldean numerology.
This leaves us with Markab, a bright star located to the north of Aquarius. As a royal star, Markab symbolizes brilliance, honor, and authority, as well as warriors, intelligence, and, unfortunately, war, conflicts, injuries, and danger. Number 51 is not just linked to this royal star but also to the ruling planet associated with the number.

Astrologers who influenced the development of modern Chaldean numerology did not believe in the general interpretation that the conjunction between Markab and Venus would only bring unreliable friends, a negative impact on business, or lead to excessive drinking; rather, they believed that this aspect signifies warriors, fame, honor, and the potential for injuries in battle or during an attack. In Tarot, this royal star is referred to as the King of Swords, which also governs warfare and danger.
Chaldean numerologists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries followed this astrological interpretation through the star Markab, maintaining much of the traditional meaning of the number.
Sepharialprovided the following explanation of the number:
“LI (51). Royal star of Aquarius. Fortuitous elevation; martial tendencies; powerful enemies; troubles through Mars men.“
“51. This number has a very powerful potency of its own. It represents the nature of the warrior; it promises sudden advancement in whatever one undertakes; it is especially favourable for those in military or naval life and for leaders in any cause. At the same time it threatens enemies, danger, and the likelihood of assassination.“

Sepharial (revised edition from 1909). Your Fortune in Your Name or Kabalistic Astrology.
William John Warner, better known as Cheiro (November 1, 1866 – October 8, 1936), was also referred to by nicknames such as Count Louis Hamon and others. However, he is primarily remembered as Cheiro. He was a British astrologer, numerologist, and palm reader.
His birth name contains numbers—13 and 15 (the sum of 96; 9+6=15). The base numbers 4 and 6 govern his numerological chart. This chart reveals a strong desire for recognition and performance (particularly highlighted by 96, with 24 in Life Path and 15 as the base number in his surname), along with a drive for success in business. Cheiro’s official name also reflected a robust longing for friendship and love, from which he drew significant spiritual strength. Additionally, he enjoyed fairly favorable influences of numbers on the chakras, which may have contributed to his reputation as a successful medium for a time.
The combination of numbers 13 and 15 sparked his interest in the occult (both 13 and 15), reforms, pioneering approaches (13), and even magic (15, 41). The number 41, in particular, fosters a fascination with numerology, which is further emphasized by his nickname “Cheiro” (Mercury and 23). Due to the numbers 13 and 15, an individuals may either become a victim of manipulation and circumstances or turn into a manipulator themselves… The overall numerological chart is complex and can bring strokes of fate that often arrive unexpectedly.
Cheiro was convicted and imprisoned in Paris around 1910 for business fraud, and it is said that this scandal closed doors among the English elite, prompting his move to the morally less stringent United States. An analysis of his works reveals a tendency for manipulation and misinformation—claiming, for instance, that he had been offering numerological guidance based on his system since the late 19th century, or that number 9 was so sacred it couldn’t correspond to any letter. Moreover, he downplayed the contributions of his European sources, likeIsidore Kozminsky and Sepharial, while asserting he learned Chaldean numerology from an Indian brahmin.
It’s essential to recognize that relationships between 15 and 4, or between 15 and 8, should not be judged too harshly. Not everyone with such combinations inherently becomes a manipulator, criminal, or prisoner. An individual’s morals and self-awareness dictate whether they use their strengths for good or ill, and when, if ever, they will yield to temptation. Furthermore, numerological charts can point to which areas of life help to balance the individual. For Cheiro, these areas primarily involved seeking courage, forming a connection with God, and nurturing love and kindness.
Even in his nicknames—like “Count Louis Hamon” and “Count Leigh de Hamong“—the theme of number 13 is prominently featured. It seems Cheiro intentionally emphasized this number, perhaps because it brings uniqueness and combines with the interchangeable number 1 to form a whole.
His nickname “Cheiro” underscores intellectual depth, as it contains the numbers for Mercury and the Sun. The number 23 derived from the nickname is considered auspicious.
In 1926, Cheiro published a book titled Cheiro’s Book of Numbers. In it, he defined the meanings of numbers in Chaldean tarot from 1 to 52, based on older sources. He also defined the rules of matching and mismatching between numbers. For each of the numbers 4 and 8, he differentiated between karmically strong and weak numbers, determining various numbers that align with them. He described favorable and less favorable months, recommended specific herbs and foods, indicated favorable colors and gemstones, and identified ailments commonly associated with particular numbers.
It’s very likely that Cheiro drew the foundational idea of alpha-numeric coding from Isidore Kozminsky, who assigned the letter H a value of either 5 or 8, and the letter X a value of 5. Based on his research, Cheiro developed an alpha-numeric coding scheme in which letters H and X always hold a value of 5. He also altered the value of the letter C, assigning it a value of 3 instead of 2.
For Cheiro, the key to analysis lies in the birth date, or Birth Number. He believed that the Total Name Number (TNN) should align with the Birth Number; otherwise, an individual might encounter challenges throughout life. He further explored the numerological influences of each day of the year based on the specific day of the month. Around 1936, he published another book titled You and Your Star, in which he detailed favorable numbers for every day.
Cheiro’s ideas of such favorable numbers influenced numerologists like Gerun Moore and Lloyd Strayhorn, who developed their own systems based on these concepts.
In Cheiro’s Book of Numbers, he established special guidelines to identify the most important two-digit number in a numerological chart. This number frequently corresponds to TNN, but sometimes the most significant number is derived from adding the birth date and TNN together (Birth Number + TNN). Cheiro did not assign a name to this number, but I personally refer to it as the Goal Number (which differs from Goal Numbers in Pythagorean numerology). Anmarie Uber called it the “Hidden Number,” while some perceive it as an indicator of career success.
Cheiro’s book, Cheiro’s Book of Numbers, does not provide reliable techniques for predicting the future. It also contains inaccuracies, such as the assertion that the Chaldeans were unaware of letters with a value of 9. Nonetheless, despite not being a comprehensive manual, this work played a pivotal role in the evolution of numerology. In many ways, Cheiro is considered the father of modern Chaldean numerology.
Walter Gorn Old, also known as Sepharial (born March 20, 1864, died December 23, 1929), was an occultist, astrologer, numerologist, and theosophist who also studied medicine, psychology, and oriental languages. He was a friend of Helena Blavatsky and one of the founding members of the Theosophical Society. Around 1894, he parted ways with Blavatsky.
He was born Walter Richard Old on March 20 and later changed his name to Walter Gorn Old (also Gornold or Gorn-Old). This change is believed to have occurred in 1895, the same year he published Kabalistic Astrology, or Your Fortune in Your Name, a book on Kabbalistic astrology (type of Chaldean numerology). Initially, he worked as a Kabbalistic astrologer, utilizing the “external values method of alpha-numeric coding.”
In this form of astrology—though it is more accurately described as a peculiar type of astro-numerology—numbers are closely connected with the tarot. The numbers from I to XXII (the Major Arcana) hold special power. In addition, there are the so-called Royal Stars, which represent the four kings of the suits of wands, cups, swords, and pentacles: the Royal Star of Leo (XXIII), the Royal Star of Taurus (XXXVII), the Royal Star of Aquarius (LI), and the Royal Star of Scorpio (LXV). Likewise, the ace of wands (also known as the ace of sceptres; XXVII), ace of swords (LV), and ace of pentacles (LXIX), along with numbers XLIII and VXXI, are said to hold special potency. Sepharial added meanings for numbers XXIV, XXV, XXVI, and XXVIII to these already established values, greatly influencing Kozminsky and Cheiro. This leads us to the interpretations of numbers in Sepharial’s numerological tarot.
Around 1911, influenced by Isidore Kozminsky and Habeeb Ahmad, Sepharial developed his own alpha-numeric coding system in Chaldean numerology. He also explored phonetic numerology. His most well-known work on numerology is The Kabala of Numbers from 1911.
His original name, Walter Richard Old, results in a Total Name Number (TNN) of 35 and 17, with a base number of 8. This is the number of Saturn and does not align with his birth date of the 20th, which has a base number of 2. For a person with this combination of numbers like Sepharial, there is a possibility that the relationship between the numbers 8 and 2 can be somewhat alleviated, redirecting the energies into creative communication or even manifestation. The challenge with this card lies in the presence of too many unfavorable numbers, which diminish the quality of life and thus limit the possibility of fully resolving the relationship between 2 and 8.
The key number in Walter Richard Old’s numerology chart is the base number 2. The number 2 represents psychology and can also indicate an interest in the occult sciences. Additionally, the number 2 is often associated with nurses and hospitals, and Sepharial did study medicine. His talent for languages is suggested by his inclination toward creative communication, especially in the numbers 2 and 4. This potential is partially reinforced by the numbers 1 and 7.
His new name, Walter Gorn Old, has a TNN of 16 or 34 with base number 7. The dominant influence of these TNNs, along with his interest in psychology and the occult, brings certain complications and blows of fate. At the same time, the connection between the birth date of the 20th and the TNN creates a link between the numbers 2 and 7. These are interchangeable numbers, strengthening each other and giving the person a unique power. Numbers with base numbers 7 and 5 are arranged in a special intellectual structure, which indicates a gift for intellectual work and research. Children are represented by the numbers 23 and 24 in the date numbers, and generally by base numbers 5, 6, and 8. Sepharial had many of these numbers and also had many children. However, it is not guaranteed that someone with child-related numbers in their chart will actually have children. If they do, such numbers help explain family relationships.
With his new name, Sepharial retained some potential for manifestation, but his numerology chart carried predominantly negative energies. Throughout his life, Sepharial faced occasional financial difficulties, often having to move with his family and take on additional jobs beyond astrological counseling.
His pen name was Sepharial. This name carries the primary vibration of the number 29. In older European Kabbalistic traditions, this number reduces to 11, which represents the Arcana XI, or “Force.” It is considered an ambivalent number of fighters. However, in very old traditions and by most modern Chaldean numerologists, this number is regarded as unlucky, as it brings conflicts and emotional suffering.
Sepharial’s life challenges, the change of his name, and the use of an unfortunate pen name can serve as an example of what can happen when a name change is not suitable. Changing a name should enhance one’s quality of life, but this was not the case for Sepharial.

Sepharial (1895): Kabalistic Astrology, or Your Fortune in Your Name
Every student of Chaldean numerology should be familiar with key modern Chaldean numerologists such as Sepharial, Isidore Kozminsky, Cheiro, Pandit Sethuraman, Richard Cavendish, Gerun Moore, Lloyd Strayhorn, and Linda Goodman. All of these numerologists were also astrologers.
Sepharial(Walter Gorn Old) played a crucial role in transitioning from the older Chaldean school of “Kabbalistic astrologers” to modern numerology. He also introduced classical descriptions of numbers from Kabbalistic astrology, where the highest number described in this approach is 71. He later wrote a very popular book, “Kabala of Numbers” (1911).
In his development, he initially used an external method of alphanumeric coding of the Latin alphabet (C = 2, H = 8, X = 6). Later, he tested several different alphanumeric approaches but ultimately decided on phonetic numerology.
Isidore Kozminsky, like Sepharial, experimented with various methods of alphanumeric coding. At the latest, in an updated edition of “Numbers: Their Meaning and Magic” in 1911, he was the first modern numerologist to predict that we should, in some cases, treat the letter H as 5. He also assigned the number 5 to the letter X. Like Sepharial, he described all the numbers he believed to have a “distinct potency of its own.” All other numbers he reduced to a number with such potency. His approach of dealing with name numbers is now considered outdated.
Cheiro(William John Warner) is regarded as the father of modern Chaldean numerology. He wrote several books covering numerology, with the most famous being “Cheiro’s Book of Numbers” (1926), where he advocated for the value of 3 for the letter C, 5 for the letter H, and 5 for the letter X.
He emphasized the importance of the Birth number (the day of the month one is born) and its connection to the Name number (that is, Total Name Number, aka TNN). He was one of the first to focus on the compatibility of numbers. He adopted Sepharial’s number descriptions, sometimes expanding them, so they corresponded to some very old descriptions. However, he described numbers only up to 52. He also wrote a book called “You and Your Star”, where he described the most suitable numbers for each day of the year based on astrological techniques.
Pandit Sethuraman, in his book “Science of Fortune” (1954), adopted Cheiro’s alphanumeric coding but summed the unreduced numbers of the first and last names. He also deviated from Cheiro’s views on number compatibility. Sethuraman expanded Cheiro’s descriptions based on his own insights and described numbers up to 108. Unlike Cheiro, he considered numbers 39 and 48 to be unfavorable.
Richard Cavendish, in his 1967 book “The Black Arts” (which has quite an inappropriate book title, especially in connection to astrology and numerology), introduced the classical internal method of alphanumeric coding (with C = 3, H = 8, X = 6), although he seems to have arrived at this through his own research. He emphasizes the importance of considering the numbers of vowels and consonants, a concept long neglected in Chaldean numerology.
Gerun Moore wrote a book in 1973 titled “Number Will Tell”. He adopted Cheiro’s alphanumeric coding system but made several changes and additions to the descriptions of numbers and the rules of compatibility. Notably, he described numbers 39 and 48 as the unlucky number 12.
He also rejected Cheiro’s model of favorable numbers for each day of the year. Instead, he created his own system, where each day of the year is generally assigned two suitable numbers (though in some cases, only one number is given). He labeled these numbers as “keys.” According to him, name numbers matching a person’s key numbers bring luck and harmony.
Lloyd Strayhorn wrote his book “Numbers and You: A Numerology Guide for Everyday Living” no later than 1980. He adopted Cheiro’s alphanumeric coding system. Although he prefers Chaldean numerology, he also considers Pythagorean numerology. Based on his research, Strayhorn introduced his own system of number compatibility, which differs somewhat from Cheiro’s model.
He also rejected Cheiro’s model of favorable numbers for each day of the year, offering instead his own astrological model with lucky numbers. He later published “Lloyd’s Numbers and You Relationship Guide: A Cosmic Blueprint to Happiness & Joy”, in which he distances himself significantly from older Chaldean approaches.
Linda Goodman published a book “Linda Goodman’s Star Signs” in 1987, which also introduces Chaldean numerology. She adopted Cheiro’s alphanumeric coding system and significantly enhanced the descriptions of numbers. However, her method of determining the TNN deviates from those of her predecessors.
Linda Goodman concludes the list of modern classics in Chaldean numerology. I believe that this list provides an appropriate foundation for studying contemporary Chaldean numerology.
There are also a few Chaldean numerologists who have uncritically incorporated Pythagorean methodsof interpreting numbers and relationships. While some ideas from the Pythagorean system can be adopted, not all Pythagorean techniques are suitable for Chaldean numerology.
In contrast to Pythagorean numerology, the first examples of the use of the Latin alphabet in Chaldean numerology are only found in the modern era. Initially, two methods of alpha-numeric encoding were used, which are shown below with values by greater cannon (units, tens and hundreds) and lesser cannon (ordinal values) and with reduced values from 1 to 9. I call the first of these methods the internal values method of alpha-numeric encoding and the second the external values method of alpha-numeric encoding.
There are differences between the two methods for two letters. The letter “C” has a value of 3 in the internal method and 2 in the external method, while the letter “H” has a value of 5 in the internal method and 8 in the external method. The internal values approach was a closely guarded secret, so most numerologists only knew the values C = 2, H = 8. In modern Chaldean numerology we also see a reformation of the internal method as early as the 19th century, in which the letter “X” is assigned a value of 5 instead of 6.
The classical internal method with C = 3, H = 5 and X = 6 was introduced to the modern world in 1967 by Richard Cavendish in his book “The Black Arts“, but he seems to have been unaware of the somewhat older Chaldean alphabetic tradition. He seems to have discovered the value of the inner method based on his own findings.
Both approaches assign vowels similarly to those in the Greek alphabet (which was influenced by Semitic alphabets and Semitic numerologies). The letter “A” is associated with the letter alpha and with a value of 1, the letter “E” is associated with the first letter of the “E”-voice, i.e. with the letter eta and with a value of 5. The letter “I” is associated with the letter iota and with the values 10 and 1, respectively. The letter “O” is associated with the first letter for the voice “O”, namely omicron with the values 70, 16 and 7. The letter “U” has a deviation and is associated with the Semitic letter waw with the value 6, and indirectly with the Greek letter digamma.
Aramaic/Semitic Original
Additionally, under the influence of the Jewish Kabbalah, some people have started to assign different values to the vowels “E” and “O” and to the corresponding letters (10 and 1 for “E” and 6 for “O”). This approach is popular among some Freemasons.
The use of phonetic numerology is also widespread among Freemasons and in certain other circles, with various approaches known. Among these, the school of Habeeb Ahmad stands out. Habeeb Ahmad published a book on the subject in 1903 entitled “The Mysteries of Sound and Number“. Phonetic numerology ignores the fact that the Hebrew alphabet was no longer entirely phonetic. They also ignore the findings of European magic that written words, and thereby letters, have the power of manifestation.
Without knowledge of the existence of the internal method, Isidore Kozminsky began to reform the outer method at the beginning of the 20th century, assigning the value 5 to the letter “X” and to the letter “H” sometimes a value of 5 and sometimes a value of 8.. These reforms are included, at the latest, in the updated edition of the book “Numbers: Their Meaning and Magic” from 1911. Kozminsky later developed his own alphanumeric Chaldean coding specifically for analyzing people’s names and surnames. Sepharialhas also been exploring his own coding method.
Kozminsky’s early reforms seem to have been taken up by Cheiro, who then assigned the letter “C” a value of 3 and the letters “H” and “X” a value of 5 in his version of alpha-numeric coding. Thus, Cheiro’s approach arrived at a reformed internal method by another route. The approach was published in 1926 in the book “Cheiro’s Book of Numbers” and soon became a leading method in the field. After the Second World War it was supported and used by many numerologists such as Pandit Sethuraman, Gerun Moore, Linda Goodman, Anmarie Uber and August Darius Danielssonn. This is also the coding I use.
Few Chaldean numerologists still follow the external method. For example, Walter B. Gibson, but in more recent times this method has been supported, for example, by the Indian numerologist Harish Johari.
Pavel Durov (Pavel Valeryevich Durov; Russian: Па́вел Вале́рьевич Ду́ров) is a Russian-Ukrainian entrepreneur who founded the social network VKontakte and later created the messaging platform Telegram. He is a strong advocate for internet freedom without government control. Opinions on his work are divided. His social networks have facilitated communication among Russian protesters, connections between Belarusian activists, the organization of the Euro-Maidan protests in Ukraine, and have been used in protests in Iran.
On the other hand, both Ukrainian and Russian authorities, as well as organized crime and pedophile networks, have exploited Telegram for their own purposes. Some view Durov as a victim of Putin’s regime, while others see him as a secret Russian agent. His recent arrest in France has caused a stir in international public opinion.
What does numerology say about him? He was born on the 10th of the month (base number 1), and his Total Name Number (TNN) in Chaldean numerology is 75 (base number 3). These are strong, masculine numbers. He also has the numbers 11 and 83 (base number 2), a Life Path Number of 24 (base number 6), and other numbers that bring some softer energies, too.
Like Donald Trump and Mike Lynch, Pavel Durov also has a number chain of 3, 5, and 8, which can represent money (and very rarely financial difficulties). The TNN, Life Path, and birth date represent a combination of powerful numbers 1, 3, and 6, governed by the benefics Sun, Jupiter, and Venus. This suggests a potential for financial stability. However, from a numerological perspective, this alone may not be enough to bring someone immense wealth. We must always remember that alongside numerology, a person’s life is influenced by other aspects of fate and various other factors. Moreover, exceptional achievements are often not traceable in fate analyses; rather, fate analyses reflect character and fundamental interests.
Pavel Durov’s numerological chart is also a karmic one, as it contains the numbers 12 and 75 (whose digits also sum to 12;7+5=12). Sepharialinterpreted the number 12 as: “Reversal of position; culpability; chastisement; loss of honour; danger of violent death; either enforced or voluntary; dangers from women; catastrophe.”
These numbers, 12 and 75, connect with some others in a way that creates very strong spiritual tendencies. It is said that Pavel Durov is a vegetarian (or at least doesn’t consume meat from supermarkets) and lives a relatively ascetic life for a wealthy man. The spiritual power of the number 12 can be channeled into good deeds and seeking good karma, which can enhance the positive aspects of his chart. Thus, the number 12 is not always negative. Of course, Durov must still be careful not to become a victim or to victimize others.
The combination of the numbers 23 and 75 can generate an interest in software and computing. Numbers like 11, 86, and 24 increase interest in social life, as do the number 23 and the number chain with base numbers 1, 5, and 6.
However, the repeated number 12 (75, 84) still indicates that a person can become a victim, especially if he or she also sacrifice others. As mentioned, 12 is a karmic number. The number 11 (83) can represent legal disputes or opponents, too. Cheirodescribed the number 11 as: “It gives warning of hidden dangers, trial, and treachery from others.” The number 10 from his birth date can represent swings of fate, both upward and downward. It is known that Pavel Durov sold his company VKontakte, allegedly under pressure and for a lower price. Soon after, he fled Putin’s regime, relocating to a safer environment and focusing on developing Telegram. But even then, there were difficulties—on August 24, 2024, he was arrested in France for allegedly allowing criminal organizations to connect on Telegram.
Pavel Durov mentioned that he had changed his name in his French passport to Paul du Rove, which is meant to be a humorous translation of his name. However, if this is true, the new name (which he only uses in France) may not have done him much good—TNN is 93, which corresponds to the number 12 (and this 12 is strongly reinforced by other 12s in his numerology chart), while the name itself has the number 18. Together, this could indicate being a victim in legal proceedings. Additionally, the name was not changed according to numerological rules and has retained much of the essence of his widely known name, Pavel Durov.
If we look at the energy trends in Pavel Durov’s life, we can see that in July and August 2024, the energies of the numbers reached an energetic low. The day of August 24, 2024, by the criteria I use, brought unfortunate energies. On that day, Durov was arrested in France. Since the energies in his prognostic chart then improve, it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months and the next year.
I should point out that classical techniques for personal year, month, and day, which are strongly present especially in Pythagorean numerology, are generally not reliable. On August 24, 2024, Durov’s personal year is 1+0+1+0+2+0+2+4= 10, his personal month is 10+8= 18, and his personal day is 18+2+4=24. The number 18, in contact with the annual number 10, can bring severe legal disputes, but it is somewhat balanced by the number 24, which is one of the luckiest numbers in numerology. Cheiro describes this number as: “Fortunate; it promises the assistance and association of those of rank and position with one’s plans; it also denotes gain through love and the opposite sex; it is a favourable number when it comes out in relation o future events.” However, it is unusual to expect someone to be arrested on a fortunate personal day with number 24 (!).
From a numerological perspective, Durov remains an enigma: Is this man merely a victim, or does he occasionally sacrifice others? What are the actual consequences of a free internet? From 2017 to 2021, Durov was at an energetic peak. The current years bring legal troubles but also analytical abilities. Soon, years marked by the relationship between numbers 9 and 7 (possible intrigue, spies, covert actions, crime) will arrive, likely meaning that the issues currently stirring global public opinion will resurface in a few years.
What can Pavel Durov do to improve his prospects? He must always strive to maintain authority and develop courage. Additionally, he has an increased ability to approach life in a spiritual way and to improve his karma through good deeds. This way, he can reduce the unfavorable influences in his fate and enhance the favorable ones.
Mike Lynch (Michael Richard Lynch, born 16 June 1965) was a British entrepreneur and the founder of Autonomy, a software company. He later established the investment firm Invoke Capital, through which he also oversaw Darktrace, a cybersecurity company.
In Chaldean numerology, Lynch’s Total Name Number (TNN)and birth date contain the numbers 2 (38) and 7 (16). These two numbers are interchangeable and strongly connected. While they are associated with the Moon, their simultaneous presence and connection also grant Lynch a certain power. The number 38 is composed of the numbers 12 (base number 3) and 17 (base number 8), which are often linked to money. The strong relationship between base numbers 3 and 8, along with the connection between base numbers 2 and 7, makes his TNN a more potent form of the number 11, which symbolizes “Force.”
Numbers 3 and 8 are also associated with the number 68, creating a link similar to that found in Donald Trump’s numerology, involving the base numbers 3, 5, and 8. These three numbers often signify money matters and business involvement. Business success is also favored by the connections between the numbers 0, 3, and 6. The number 68 can be associated with computer software, and the numbers 5 and 7 combine to form the number 57, which can also be partially linked to software.
Lynch’s last name contains the letter Y, which many Chaldean numerologists believe should always be considered a vowel. The letter Y originates from the letter Yod, and in its original vibration, it is actually a consonant. Because Y can represent both a vowel and a consonant, its fundamental nature, due to its original vibration, remains primarily that of a consonant. Although the distinction between these influences isn’t entirely clear, practical results suggest that Y should fundamentally be analyzed as a consonant, even when associated with the “ee” sound. In Lynch’s case, analyzing Y as a vowel would loose indicators pointing to his work with software, leading to an incorrect analysis.
Unfortunately, the numbers 38 and 12 can also indicate legal disputes, and the number 16 can bring an unexpected loss of influence and power. After selling Autonomy, Mike Lynch was sued by Hewlett-Packard for alleged fraud. He was arrested and, in 2022, extradited to the United States. In June 2024, when his personal energies were somewhat more favorable (though still slightly unfavorable, but at a peak after 18 months), he was acquitted of all charges and released. His energies worsened in July, so he was fortunate that the court’s decision was made in June.
In August, his energies strengthened again, though they still retained a negative tone. This aligns with Lynch celebrating his freedom (energy strengthening) and then tragically dying in a sailing accident (reflecting the overall negative energy level). It’s important to understand that numerology cannot provide precise predictions (just as other systems for determining one’s fate cannot). It does not predict events such as death or marriage but rather indicates whether the energies of a specific day, month, or year are more challenging or more favorable.
Of course, much depends on which predictive model is used. My current approach also doesn’t provide perfect results, and it’s difficult to account for astrological and other influences that may improve or worsen a situation.
Specifically, August 19, 2024, brought Lynch, according to my approach, a very negative form of the number 15, known as “The Devil.” Sepharial ascribed the following meaning to the number 15: “Fate; inevitable; dangers to offspring and marital strife; luxury.” On that day, the number 15 was strongly connected with water, and his birthdate of the 16th, which also governs water and accidents, was strongly activated.
It’s also worth noting that the classic method for calculating personal years, months, and days gives a personal year of 1+6+6+2+0+2+4=21, a personal month of 21+8=29, and a personal day of 29+1+9=39 for August 19, 2024. The numbers 29 and 39 are considered unlucky and are associated with water. The number 29 can represent division or conflict, and the number 39 is a form of the number 12, which is called “The Victim.” Sepharial ascribed the following meaning to the number 12: “Reversal of position; culpability; chastisement; loss of honour; danger of violent death; either enforced or voluntary; dangers from women; catastrophe.” In this case, this approach aligns well with the events. Unfortunately, this is an exception to the rule—the established method for determining personal years, months, and days usually misses the mark.
The interpretations of compound numbers, as described in Sepharial‘s work ‘Your Fortune in Your Name or Kabalistic Astrology‘ (revised edition from 1909), had a significant influence on Isidore Kozminsky and Cheiro, thereby shaping the development of modern Chaldean numerology. Sepharial delineates these compound numbers within the framework of 32 ‘Points of Departure,’ which correspond to individual tarot arcana.
The basics of the descriptions stem from Kabbalistic astrology as defined by Sepharial’s predecessors. The descriptions of the arcana up to and including arcana IX are not provided here, as they appear to be heavily influenced by the Pythagorean numerologist John Heydon.
The descriptions of the other arcana are as follows:
