The Russo-Ukrainian war has been ongoing since 2014, with its most intense phase (referred to in Russia as a “special military operation”) starting on February 24, 2022. This phase of the war has surprised everyone with its longevity. After the collapse of the Afghan government forces against the Taliban and Ukraine’s experience in 2014, it seemed unlikely that Ukraine could defend itself against Russia. The Russian military appeared invincible, while Ukraine was notorious as one of the most corrupt countries, where Russia had quickly seized Crimea eight years earlier. Almost everyone (except perhaps the well-informed) anticipated a complete Ukrainian defeat within a week or two. Even astrologers mostly predicted a short war, one expected to end by the spring of 2022 at the latest.
In the initial phase of the “special military operation,” Russia had the primary interest in intensifying the conflict, while Ukraine had the least. The war seemed sensible to the Russian imperial elite and their nationalists, who anticipated support from all Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine. Meanwhile, European and American elites had been quietly supporting Ukraine for years. As the war progressed, Ukrainian nationalists and elites also gained vested interests. On one hand, some Russian-speaking residents who fled the Russians became part of the Ukrainian ethnogenesis or even left the country. On the other hand, vast sums of money began flowing from the West into impoverished Ukraine.
The severe consequences of the war’s continuation initially affected Europe (the EU), causing internal divisions, worsening economic challenges, and fostering the rise of local nationalisms. The war persisted due to the support of elites in Ukraine, Russia, Europe, and the U.S. Countless Russian and Ukrainian soldiers perished. In its later stages, the war also severely impacted Russia economically. Facing the threat of economic collapse, Russia is now losing interest in continuing the conflict. With the return of Trump in the U.S., an anti-war sentiment is likely to gain prominence. Additionally, China, affected by the pressures and measures linked to Russia and the disruption of the Silk Road between Russia and Europe, also lacks interest in prolonging the war. In Ukraine, the death toll is high, and the country has suffered significant economic and infrastructural destruction.
From the perspective of numerology, the Russo-Ukrainian war can also be understood through numbers. Both Ukraine and Russia have a Total Name Number (TNN) of 18. This number reflects the acts of their elites. Sepharial describes this compound number as: “false sense of security; unprofitable associations with women; hidden perils; treacheries; deceptions.” Cheiro offers the following interpretation: “it indicates making money and position through wars or by wars. It is, however, a warning of treachery, deception by others, also danger from the elements, such as storms, danger from water, fires and explosions.“

Ukraine’s TNN, combined with its Birth Number, results in 97, which is similar to the number 43. Sepharial describes 43 as: “Destruction; abortive enterprises; things brought to nothing; annihilation.” Cheiro explains it as: “It is symbolised by the signs of revolution, upheaval, strife, failure, and prevention.” Such numbers fuel nationalistic emotions and a readiness for battle among Ukrainians.
Russia, too, has a TNN of 18, but its Birth Number is 12. Since 3 (1+2) and 9 (1+8) are masculine numbers, Russia appears more combative and aggressive than Ukraine. The number 18 associates Russia with heavy karma and a negative astral influence. This connection explains its focus on a massive military budget and often on imperialism. The number 12 brings challenges to Russia, as it is the number of sacrifice. This number may have contributed to Russia’s inability, except in Belarus and formerly in Ukraine, to maintain its influence and prevent NATO’s expansion.
The relationship between the numbers of these two countries indicates a largely neutral situation. Nines in their TNNs can lean toward conflict or friendship, while the relationship between their Life Paths (34 and 28) can sometimes be favorable and other times challenging, as 34 may act like the South Lunar Node conjunct the Sun – a situation that numerologically resembles possibility of an “eclipse.” This suggests that relations between these countries fluctuate and may not always be as hostile as they have been over the past 11 years.
From the names of the two countries and their key numerical dates, we cannot deduce a significant risk of severe wars. Thus, we must examine the numbers of the leaders of Russia and Ukraine. It is important to avoid analyzing the English versions of their names, a common mistake among Chaldean numerologists who fail to recognize the greater influence of numbers in their original forms. In the international context, the English version undoubtedly has an influence as well (Ukraine = 6+2+2+1+1+5+5 = 22 and Russia = 2+6+3+3+1+1 = 16), but this operates more in the background.
Putin’s prominent numbers are 46 and 18, which lend him masculinity but also potential for conflict. He also possesses the number 17, symbolizing fame, though not always positively, due to its placement. Combined with numbers like 7 and 46, it suggests intelligence and a reputation as a capable leader. Another 17, found in his consonants, connects with 18 and 19, indicating a leader associated with warfare. This explains the energies likely influencing such a political figure. Interestingly, Putin exhibits a heightened potential to align with either “heavenly” forces or the lower astral realm. His number combinations also suggest he could excel as a businessman.

Zelenskyy carries the number 85, reducing to 13, which, in combination with 33 (3+3=6, the number of artistic Venus), aligns with television, theater, film, or radio. Negatively, 13 signifies death and dangerous turns. For a political leader, this can indicate the death of followers. In the Russian version of his name, Zelenskyy displays the energies of a soldier (45) and another number of war (97). Thus, the Russian spelling and pronunciation make Zelenskyy appear more militant and dangerous than he might otherwise be. In both native and Russian forms (Володимир Зеленський and Владимир Зеленский), he shares a similar potential with Putin: the ability to align with “heavenly” or lower astral forces. Like Putin, Zelenskyy’s numerical combinations suggest he could also thrive as a businessman. Their numerological charts are strikingly similar in many respects, including their shared ability to lead naive people into trouble, death, or sacrifice.

When comparing their numbers, there is no energetic compatibility between the two leaders. Both have birth dates whose base number is 7. Typically, two individuals with a base number of 7 are not compatible. Their TNNs create a relationship of 4 to 1 or 9 to 1. This dynamic likely disfavors Putin, as 4 can obstruct 1’s intentions, while 9 can lead to quick conflict between Zelenskyy and Putin. Their Life Paths have base numbers of 6 and 7, indicating a possible initial attraction that may turn increasingly negative over time. The consonantal numbers (base numbers 4 and 9) suggest significant conflict. Even when analyzed in a zigzag manner, unfavorable tendencies dominate.
The Russo-Ukrainian war, in its latest major phase as a “special military operation,” can thus be numerologically interpreted as a result of the numbers influencing its two key leaders.
This phase of the war began on February 24, 2022. The year 2022 ends with the digits 22. The number 2 represents the east, and 22 can signify two eastern countries. Adding the digits in 22 results in 4, often associated with the west. This could be interpreted as a conflict between two naive eastern nations, connected with a similarly naive western superpower. The number 22 also represents naivety and unfavorable developments. Sepharial describes it as: “Blind presumption; success followed by loss; entrapment; willful injury; final catastrophe; folly.”
Interestingly, the calendar energies on the day the “special military operation” began were much less favorable for Russia than for Ukraine. Numbers like 1 and 9 gave Ukrainians strength and courage comparable to the Russians’. Ukrainian numbers also seem to foster greater inventiveness. Across individual years (analyzed using various techniques for 2022–2026), both countries have approximately equal energy support, although Ukraine enjoyed better support in 2023.
It’s essential to note that the mundane aspects of Chaldean numerology remain under-researched, and indicators may sometimes be overestimated or underestimated, with some crucial techniques potentially overlooked. Of course, this is merely a numerological analysis. For this article, I deliberately avoided expanding the analysis to astrology, which could provide additional insights into the dynamics at play. Remember, Chaldean numerology does not predict the future but merely adds a piece to the mosaic of the path we tread. By studying Fate, we can glimpse the path ahead but cannot foresee whether someone will persevere on it. Finally, this retrospective analysis does not include a year-by-year or month-by-month breakdown, which would reveal additional dynamics of the conflict.
Although the Martian year of 2025 indicates a period of wars and conflicts, there remains hope (similar to the situation in Gaza) that a peace agreement and an end to hostilities may also emerge in the Russo-Ukrainian war. The chances of establishing not just a ceasefire but lasting peace in Ukraine (which, even with Trump’s mediation this year, is by no means guaranteed) are even greater than in Palestine. This is because Israel has not yet been economically and militarily exhausted, while Russia and Ukraine have been. Ideally, lasting peace could be achieved in both regions, as well as in Burma, Sudan, and elsewhere in the world.
